Revving up! De Bonte Wever in Assen

We're in for a dance-themed holiday this time. I'm not going to spill the beans yet, keep reading my blogs!

We're starting our holiday in Assen.
Assen - one of the cities in the northern part of Holland - is famous in the (international) Dance world for the Ballroom- and Latin competitions that are held here, in the 'Bonte Wever', a huge convention / sports centre plus hotel.
We've been in the 'Bonte Wever' ('weaving mill for multi-coloured fabrics') before when we dropped off our English dance teachers, Nick Miles and Rafal Pilot. They were scrutineers at the Dutch Open Dance competition, one of the nine Super World Series!

This time we stayed the night and searched for the huge hall where these competitions are held - and found it. The hall was not ablaze with lights and laughter and nerves and Ballroom music, there were no beautifully dressed couples swirling the largest dance floor in Holland.
But fascinating nevertheless.

For non-Dutch readers I include a couple of pics of the Assen surroundings. Holland in Summer!
