We in Holland have Indonesian restaurants, and very good ones too.
England of course has Indian restaurants. Loads, since Indian food is very popular here - and rightly so! Our chance to eat some real good Indian food.
We did go to Brick Lane of course: less than 10 mins. walk from our hotel and always good for a huge plate of spicy food served in a jiffy.
Now we had our last day in Londen to spend and wanted to do something special.
So we went to Southall, west London. There's a large Indian community here - Punjabi and Pakistani - even the signs at the station are bilingual.
Turning right at the station exit the street was just about 100% Indian shops and restaurants.
We had an absolutely glorious day.
Accompanied by a blazing sun (still 30C and up) we felt like we had been catapulted into another world, into another continent. To India: colourfull dresses and sparkling jewellery everywhere, the scents and smells of the Tropics and fruit and vegetables I've never seen before.
We celebrated the end of our holiday in a no fuss restaurant and had the best Indian meal ever. Two curries, a pancake filled with herbs, a mango lassi and a jug of cold water. 22.50 the lot.
I'll go back any day.
