'I feel very envious', sighs my Australian cousin, 'reading of your trips to France and England'.
My Aussie cousin thinks our trips 'sound wonderfully exotic'.
After which he tells about a stroll at the beach near his (Sydney based) home. Where he spotted whales.
Read his mail: 'at the moment the whales are making their way up the coast. You can always see waterspouts out at sea if you look for a few minutes; sometimes they are closer in and you can see the animals themselves'.
He even spotted a white whale. Imagine.
This year's Summer holiday destination proved a bit of a problem. - That's because, to be honest, we're into Ballroom dancing all of a sudden. And we love it.
Because of the ballroom dancing we haven't been on holiday for almost a year - we didn't want to miss any lessons - but our school closed for the summer holidays. Two months. What to do? Ok- search for an impromptu holiday destination.
We did. We looked towards England: birthplace of Ballroom.
- hmmm. well. It's a bit of a motley bunch, these pics. What's France for us? Food - a castle made into a hotel - a lovely harbour (Dieppe) - Arras with it's wonderful squares, made into an impromptu beach - it's all about giving my Aussie cousin an impression of life at the other side of the globe... here you are, Paul!)

Talk about being envious.
For us, here in Holland, going to France and England is - well, pretty normal. But I've never ever seen a whale IRL, let alone a waterspout indicating them. Now that sounds exotic!

So we went West, via France to pick up the ferry, and this time you'll see just touristy pics. We weren't on holiday to photograph, we went to England to dance. It was exciting. Here's the beginning of our trip: France.
