This is so interesting, and so totally different from the vineyards in Europe.
Finding out and learning things like this is one of the pleasures of travelling!
Come to Europe and see why we are so enthusiastic.
In Europe the vines are almost always planted on sloping grounds. Anything from rolling hills to very, very steep mountain slopes. So seeing vineyards only planted on the valley floor really amazed us.
Then the European vineyards are very neat with no other plants or shrubs in between the rows of vines. Here we saw high growing grasses, alfalfa and lot's of other stuff all around the vines - again, amazing.
But they make pretty good wines in this Napa Valley, so apparently it works ;)
Anyone living in America may not be surprised to see these vineyards, but then the photos were made for the Europeans, and they'll be as pleased (and surprised) to see these pics as we were!
