Life is... touring on a squad around Sedona

...a matter of seconds (and some prohibited parking).
We went to Sedona.

Sedona, just south of Flagstaff where we spent the night, is beautifully situated between the red rocks, has a much warmer clime than 'fresh mountain air' Flagstaff and is (hence) extremely popular. They've picked up the Zeitgeist and transformed the village in a new age-wellness resort. Think healing crystals, Indian dream catchers and hot stone treatments.

The route to the village was already stunning - we drove through gorgeous Oak Creek canyon with expensive cabins and campgrounds everywhere.

But Sedona was packed, and so were all the parking lots. We drove behind the main street, saw a restricted parking for visitors of X and parked our car. As a courtesy we walked through X, that happened to be a shopping centre, and walked straight into a quad and buggy rental.

10 minutes later we had rented a (2 person) quad for the next 4 hrs., to be picked up 10 mins. outside the town centre near the gravel roads where we would race around to our hearts content.
And especially mine.

After giving it a try I decided I was very well able to drive the quad too and swapped places with Pieter who, in the back seat, tried to film this bumpy offroad experience!

This was an afternoon off. We felt like we were playing in a warm and very beautiful XXL playground.
Never thought this noisy, clumsy quad could be so much fun!

Ps: one of the reasons we so liked the Sedona landscape was that it resembled the Australian Outback: the same red earth, the same sedimented rocks. Plus the same heat - all in all, we fell immediately in love with the place!
