Where the Woozle Wasn't

I assume you all read your classic children's books. Winny the Pooh? Remember the map of the Hundred Acre Wood and the spot Where the Woozle Wasn't?

That one, yes. That's exactly like Juliet's --- no, I have to start earlier in this story.

To be honest, we had quite forgotten (or never really realised...) that Verona is The City Of Romeo And Juliet.
In Verona though, you're immediately reminded.

There's Juliet's House - not the real Juliet because she was a fictional character of Shakespeare
(check out Wikipedia for the 'yes, but's')

And there's Juliet's Balcony - the house where the non-real Juliet lived did not have a balcony so the local government decided (in the 1930's!) to stick a balcony to the house of fictional Juliet in order to present a proper commemorative place for all the visitors in search of this love story.

They did. And do. In droves.

This is the idea: you enter the little courtyard, gawp at the balcony, stick a love message to the tree or its surroundings at the far end of the courtyard and while being photographed by your lover you stroke Juliet's breast to assure yourself of a romantic love life ever after.

Where Juliet wasn't. Oh well...
