Venice - as you don't know it from the travel guides

Me and my big mouth.
We were going to Venice. I was going to blog about it.
And here I am, scanning through - literally - hundreds of photos from three days in Venice I want to share with you because Venice is such a stunning city and every picture you take is a winner.
> sigh!! <

Writing is about killing your darlings, well, the same goes for photography.
So you're not about to see each and every photo I selected at first for this blog - lucky you, I can tell you (but the ones I left out were really interesting and also-must-sees, honest!).

Here's a selection of photos of Venice you might not see in the travel guides.
I readily admit I am going to cheat. A bit.
To show you more of my must-see photos I'm posting a blog about the Rialto market (see the pics of  the fishmongers!).
Another blog about the St. Marks Square and the mosaics in the St. Marks Cathedral.
And, for everyone into music, about the famous La Fenice Theatre.
I must show you pics about the gondolas too, of course, and the final one - I promise you will not be bored by Venice by then - about Venice 'insolite et secret'.
I could have written a proper tourist guide after our three days spent here - because there's no such city as Venice.

After a week of hot summer temperatures the weather changed, luckily for one day only. So when we went to Venice the weather was overcast, with scatterings of light rain - all of a sudden rather Dutch spring instead of blazing Italian summer (fortunately for us the next day the weather was back to summer again!).

So we start with our vaporetto ride from Marco Polo airport. This you will definitely not see in your travel guide. From there on - well, see for yourselves!
