Boka Pistol and the Shete Boka National Park

Curacao is not all arid.
Well - I was going to tell about the glorious North coast where the ocean beats the cliffs, resulting in huge, magnificent showers of water, but the North coast itself is even more barren than the rest of the island.

That said, for the most glorious views of the ocean do go to the North Coast, more precise: the Sheta Boka National Park.
Sheta Boka means seven mouths or inlets and those seven are the most important ones. There are many more.

But the most stunning is the Boka Pistol, where the ocean is forced into a small bay, and then into a tiny gap in the cliffs. The immense amount of water gets out again with the retracting wave, and that it does, due to the tiny gap, with a shot not even like a pistol but more like a huge cannon.
Shot into the air, up to 30 metres high.
It's awesome to watch.

And wonderful to be near so much water again after days on the dry island - we stayed for hours, marvelling at the bright blue ocean and listening to the roaring sounds of the waves clashing on the cliffs.
The rest of the park is great to visit too - think volcanic grounds (sharp and difficult to find a foothold), trees that grow on the ground (pictures of that later...), and at the entrance a pleasant cafe where you sit under a jumble of trees feeling in the middle of nowhere.
Which is probably a correct feeling, btw.
