The tiny island of Lanzarote and the various roads

Lanzarote is by all means a tiny island.
And there are not so many roads.

We had a tourist map of the island and each evening I traced the roads we had driven that day.
The very last day - ok, it's very childish, I fully admit - we drove frantically around the island covering the roads we hadn't 'done' yet.
So we can now honestly say we drove about every road on the island (that is, outside the city and the villages for the tourists, of course) (although, when searching for a place to park our car we drove almost all roads of the city: Arrecife!).

I once saw a very fascinating picture appeared in our newspapers of the land where our cyclists were training for the Tour de France.
I saw a desolate (and very interesting) road in a desolate (and very interesting) landscape and I simply couldn't believe my eyes when the caption told me this was Lanza as well - not Patagonia, the Mongolian plains or another far away country.
Until I checked my own photos and I saw I had pictured just about the same road.
It was one of the roads near the Timanfaya, the volcanic area.

Apart from the main roads we also drove the stony back roads, potholed tracks, overlooked by everyone and barely used. Those we loved best. We bounced along them, feeling once again in the Tropics.
So, all in all, interesting enough to give you some road pics.
btw - you might just note that quite some look brand new.
They are. EU-money. Built next to the old road.
